Achievements

1.    Academic – April Exam: Certificates of Achievement are awarded to the top three learners in each grade determined on the average percentage across all subjects with a minimum of 75% for Junior Grades, 70% for Grade 11 (irrespective of subject levels), and 65% for Grade 12 (irrespective of subject levels).


2.    Academic –August Exam: Certificates of Achievement are awarded to the top three learners in each grade determined on the average percentage across all subjects with a minimum of 75% for Junior Grades, 70% for Grade 11 (irrespective of subject levels), and 65% for Grade 12 (irrespective of subject levels).


3.    Academic – Junior Grade Subjects: Certificates of Achievement are awarded to the top three learners in all subjects who achieved a minimum of 75% on average for the April & August Exams.


4.    Academic – Senior Grade Subjects – Ordinary Level (both Core & Extended): Certificates of Achievement are awarded to the top three learners in all Subjects who achieved a minimum of 70% on average for the April & August Exams.


5.    Academic – Senior Grade Subjects – Higher Level: Certificates of Achievement are awarded to the top three learners in all Subjects who achieved a minimum of 65% on average for the April & August Exams.


6.    Academic Colours: A Certificate of Achievement and an embroided tie are awarded to those Junior learners who achieved a minimum of 75% on average for the April & August Exam, and to Senior learners who achieved a minimum of 70% on average for the April & August Exams.


7.    Sport Colours: A Certificate of Achievement and an embroided tie are awarded to those learners who achieved National colours and higher.


8.    Academic – Dux Learner: A Certificate of Achievement and a trophy are awarded to the Grade 12 learner who achieved the highest average percentage for the April & August Exams (minimum 70%).


9.    Sportsman/woman: Certificates of Achievement are awarded to the male and female learner who reached significant heights on national level and higher, the criteria and recipients to be determined by the Sport Coaches.


10.    Frankle Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Junior Physical Science learner with a minimum of 75% on average for the April & August Exams.


11.    Rossing Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Senior Physical Science learner with a minimum of 70% on average for the April & August Exams.


12.    Richard Frankle Trophy : A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Biology learner with a minimum of 70% on average for the April & August Exams.


13.    Richard Frankle Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Life Science learner with a minimum of 75% on average for the April & August Exams.


14.    Alpers Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Grade 12 Mathematics learner with a minimum of 70% on average for the April & August Exams.


15.    Fanuel Tjivau Trophy - Senior: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Senior Accounting learner with a minimum of 70% on average for the April & August Exams.


16.    Fanuel Tjivau Trophy - Junior: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Junior Accounting learner with a minimum of 75% on average for the April & August Exams.


17.    Louise van der Vyver Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Grade 10 learner with a minimum of 75% on average for the April & August Exams.


18.    Steward Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Senior English Higher level learner with a minimum of 65% on average for the April & August Exams.


19.    Ken Baard Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Grade 12 learner who showed Academic Consistency and Merit, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the staff.


20.    Van der Grijp Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the learner who showed Great Perseverance under difficult circumstances, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the staff.


21.    Johnson Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to a learner for meritorious leadership, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the staff.


22.    Effie Lentin Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the learner who showed All-round Academic and Sporting Ability, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the staff.


23.    Eric Botha Trophy: Certificates of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the team, club or society who has done the most for the honour of Centaurus, the criteria and recipients to be determined by the staff.


24.    Nahum Gorelick Trophy: Certificates of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the most active team, club or society, the criteria and recipients to be determined by the staff.


25.    McIntyre Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the learner who showed all the characteristics of true sportsmanship, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the Sport Coaches.


26.    Charles Kloot Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Junior learner who showed sportsmanship and perseverance in the classroom and on the sportsfield, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the staff.


27.    F.J. Vollgraaff Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Junior Hockey player, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the Hockey Coaches.


28.    Centaurus Boys Hockey Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Most Improved Senior Boy’s Hockey player, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the Hockey Coaches.


29.    Jane Webster Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Senior Hockey player, provided that the learner already received National Colours and higher, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the Hockey Coaches.


30.    Eric Hamman Trophy: A Certificate of Achievement and the trophy are awarded to the Best Soccer Team, the criteria and recipient to be determined by the Soccer Coaches.
Take Note:
Certificates and trophies will not be awarded if learners did not reach the minimum criteria.
Cash prizes and gift certificates may be given in conjunction with some certificates and trophies provided that the budget allows for that.
Trophies never become the property of the recipient neither may trophies be removed from the premises of Centaurus High School.
